On Line Colleges and Universities
On Line Colleges and Universities are becoming more and more popular in today’s modern world. There was once a time where an online degree was almost a joke. Employers did not take them seriously and employees were almost embarrassed to put it on their resume. These days are

long over! Virtually everyone now understands that a good, accredited on line school can offer an excellent education in just about any field. This is especially true of technical careers since most of the job will involve being in front of a computer anyway so there is no stigma to an online degree.
There are many advantages to online colleges, some of them are obvious like the convenience of doing your classes from home. Some are less obvious like for many schools you can take just about any class you want any time of the year. The schools can target a National or even International audience so they can offer more classes more often. Often times one can start taking classes within a week or two of applying to the school. This is a huge advantage over having to wait for a new year or semester for a traditional brick and mortar college.
Most on line colleges and Universities also offer the opportunity for students to go in to a physical classroom to meet with a teacher if they need additional hands on assistance. Some schools, like University of Phoenix, have campuses all around the country. Others may team up with a local college or university to offer the hands on services that they can’t do online. This added benefit has removed virtually all negative aspects of online schools.
Some students attending an online college may find it difficult to stay on track since there is not a teacher giving them personal instruction in person. If you are unable or unwilling to keep up on your assignments and motivate yourself to get it done then an online university may not be for you. While its true that the teachers do interact with you via internet postings, email, chat programs or even the phone or skype it is just not the same as having a teacher talking to you in person asking for an assignment you were supposed to do the night before.
When weighing the advantages and disadvantages of attending an on line college or university the main thing to consider is yourself. Will you do the work? Will you stay up on all the online reading and work associated with the class? will you be able to complete the work on time? If you can answer yes to all of these questions then attending school online just might be the best choice for you!
